Munich Cold Protection is a wonderful offer for those who would otherwise have to sleep on the streets. From 5 pm to 9 am beds are provided in common rooms in emergency quarters. Toilets and communal showers are on site.
However, the situation remains dire for families with children, the elderly and the disabled.
That’s why we found ourselves acting in October 2019: on several evenings per week we opened our warehouse, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the Cold Protection, to visitors who are particularly vulnerable. They can now warm up in a safe room and find some rest with coffee and snacks. On any such day up to 50 visitors take shelter.
We also provide lockers, so that at least a few of our visitors from the cold protection can safely store parts of their belongings and thus do not have to carry everything with them during the day. If necessary, we also hand out clothes and supplements, such as bathing slippers for the communal showers.
